Carmen Booth, PMHCNS-BC Carmen Booth, PMHCNS-BC, is a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then worked as an RN for a year before she decided to pursue her Masters in Adult Health. She completed the Adult Nurse Practitioner Program at Valdosta State University in 1997. She has worked in College Health, Internal Medicine and Psychiatric Nursing. She worked at Greenleaf Center for 5 years performing physical exams and taking care of the medical needs of psychiatric patients. Carmen then decided to specialize in Psychiatry. She completed the Advanced Practice Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Program thru Northern Kentucky University. She is now certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. Carmen sees patients with all types of Psychiatric disorders including Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Personality Disorders, Schizophrenia, Dementia, Substance Abuse issues, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and other mental health issues. Carmen sees new patients and follows up with patients for medication management. She also counsels patients and families in need of these services. She works closely with Dr. Wendy Vandemark to provide the best care for patients. Patty Cosey, MS/LPC Patty White-Cosey, M.S., L.P.C. moved to Valdosta from Charleston, West Virginia to attend graduate school at Valdosta State University. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from West Virginia University and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Valdosta State University. She has been licensed as a Professional Counselor since 1999. She began her career as a Counselor at Behavioral Health Services working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She worked there for six years, and in 2002 left Behavioral Health Services to be the Director of Greenleaf Center's Outpatient Services until 2008. She specializes in the treatment of children, marriage and family issues, mood disorders, and borderline personality disorder. Robin Dees, MS/LPC Robin Dees, M.S., L.P.C. is a native of Lowndes County. After graduating from Lowndes High School, she attended Valdosta State University where she received her B.A. (2000) and M.S. (2002) Degrees in Clinical Psychology. While enrolled in the master's program she completed an internship and practicum at Behavioral Health Services, a local community mental health service board. While working as an intern, she was hired as a full time therapist and remained working in that capacity for 4 years providing mental health counseling services and ongoing case management services. Deciding to advance her experience and growth as a clinician, she accepted a position at Greenleaf Counseling Center as the Partial Hospitalization Program Director at the Valdosta Outpatient office. She has worked there for the last five years and has gained a clinically and personally diversified experience. She supervised a team of therapists and case managers serving a range of ages from children to adults with both mental health and substances abuse issues. Her clinical path has helped her to gain significant knowledge and experience in the field of clinical counseling. She has provided ongoing care in the areas of marriage, individual, family and group treatments options with a focus on the specialty areas and psychopathology of addiction, personality disorders, depression and anxiety. She has focused on the co-morbidity of lifestyle complications that arise due to these issues. She specializes in a cognitive behavioral approach to therapy utilizing a focus on thinking patterns and behavioral interventions with a strong reality base. Lexi Swords, LMFT Lexi Swords, M.S., L.M.F.T. is a native of Appling County. She graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology in 2003 and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2005. While enrolled in the Master's program she completed an internship at the Lowndes Behavioral Health Services- Child and Adolescent Day Treatment Center in Valdosta. She conducted individual and group therapy sessions for this population. She also completed practicum and other outside clinical hours at the Moore Street Clinic. This clinic provides individual and family counseling for anyone in the area. During practicum she was supervised by her professor and a team of therapists via a two-way mirror. Upon graduation from the Master's program, she worked part-time conducting in-home based counseling services for Department of Family and Children Services' referred cases. These counseling services ranged from individual counseling, parenting classes, substance abuse counseling, and family counseling. She also worked part-time doing in-home based counseling for adolescents with behavioral problems as referred by the Department of Juvenile Justice. For a brief period, to expand her experience she worked within Adult Protective Services doing on-going case management along with individual counseling with the elderly and disabled clients. She has currently been working at Greenleaf Hospital in Valdosta for almost three years. She has worked as a primary therapist providing individual, family, group therapy, as well as on-going case management services. Some areas at which she has focused on include issues related to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, anger management, addiction, and personality disorders. She utilizes family systems theory to resolve emotional conflicts with individuals, couples, and families in an attempt to modify perceptions, behaviors, and enhance communication. Wendy Vandemark, MD Dr. Wendy Vandemark graduated from the University of Akron magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science. She received her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio University's College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. She then went on to do her psychiatry residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. She finished her residency training in 2004. After residency she spent two years working in Detroit, Michigan before relocating to Valdosta, Georgia with her husband and two children. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has gained a wide variety of experience. Dr. Vandemark has worked in many different settings including outpatient clinics, psychiatric hospitals, medical hospitals, chemical dependence rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and a center for developmental disabilities. Dr. Vandemark has treated a very diverse population including those with mental illness, chemical dependence, dementia, and developmental disabilities. She has experience with adolescents and adults as well as the forensic and geriatric population. Melissa Wilkerson, Office Manager Melissa Wilkerson has primarily lived in Valdosta, GA most of her life. She graduated from Valdosta High School and began working and attending classes at Valdosta State University where she studied psychology and speech communications. She holds an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Health. She then transferred to Valdosta Technical College where she graduated in 2002 with a degree in Medical Assisting. She completed an internship at Southern OB/GYN and continued working there for 1 1/2 years. She took a position at Greenleaf Counseling Center as Administrative Secretary for the Outpatient Office for the last 5 1/2 years. She then accepted an offer to become office manager for Therapy Center Valdosta. She is also a Certified Notary Public. |
